Union Meeting Minutes 2/18/14

Call to order @ 17:30

Reading of December minutes by Tony Fino.  Motion to accept made by Dunn, seconded by Ricci (passed unanimously)

Officer & Committees -

E-Board – The E-Board had a meeting within the Board on the morning of 2/18/14.  The afternoon was spent meeting with the Chiefs and Personnel Director Tanya Barnes.  The main topics were EMS Billing and the day staff work schedule.  The City agreed to submit written guidelines for the EMS Billing program by 3/3/14.  Wes Eisenhandler had questions on the negotiation procedures and there were several questions and concerns from the attendees.  The Board has agreed that if the program is enacted as it has been presented, the Board would support the EMS Billing Program.

Officer’s Precepting Medics – Wes Eisenhandler questioned the issue of officers precepting the new medics.  President Dunn explained that he was not against the practice; however, he needed time to research the CBA before agreeing to it.  The proposal was withdrawn by the Chief prior to President Dunn formalizing an answer on the issue.

Commissioners at the Fire Stations- If any Fire Commissioners show up at a fire station you are to notify the Duty Chief immediately.

Pension Proposals – A last request for pension proposals was extended to the membership.  They will be due by 3/1/14.

Wake & Funeral for Chief Whitham – Wednesday and Thursday

Golf tournament – Luciano is distributing info now.

Wine Tasting Benefit – 2/20/14

Tom Rak resigned as dispatcher

E.A.P. is now active.  Brett Corris and AJ Murphy are the department representatives.

Unfinished Business – None

Communication & Bills

Several Xmas cards were read

Many Toys for Tots thank you’s were read

Chapman – OOS w/ knee injury

Kasper – OOS w/ leg injury

Gaffney – Light Duty

Hoyt – Light Duty

W. Eisenhandler – OOS w/ knee surgery

Treasurer’s Report-

The monthly treasurer’s report was read & submitted by Treasurer Heenan - Motion to accept made by Connelly, seconded by G. O’Brien (passed unanimously)

New Business-

J. Mattioli honorary badge & helmet shield submitted by Ron Wetmore.

Tilted Kilt to hold benefit on 2/25/14.

Sandy Ground Benefit Road Race on 3/22/14

Marty Halprin made a motion to supply breakfast & lunch to the workers on the Sandy Ground Build up to the amount $1500.  Motion was seconded by W. Eisenhandler (passed unanimously)

B. Edo made a motion to sponsor $250 for Road Race.  Motion was seconded by Connelly (passed unanimously)

Halprin made a motion for $500 for the Wine Tasting Benefit.  Motion was seconded by W. Eisenhandler (passed unanimously)

Wetmore made stickers for J. Mattioli and will sell them for $5 each to raise money for benefit.

W. Eisenhandler made a motion for $25 for Eric Muth.  Motion was seconded by G. O’Brien (passed unanimously)

W. Eisenhandler made a motion for $25 for the Maple Valley Firefighters.  Motion was seconded by G. O’Brien (passed unanimously)

G. O’Brien made a motion for $25 for the Waco Professional Firefighters.  Motion was seconded by G. Hoyt (passed unanimously)

G. Hoyt made a motion for $100 for the Foran HS Post Prom.  Motion was seconded by G. O’Brien (passed unanimously)

President Dunn made a motion for $2000 for a new Union Laptop computer.  Motion was seconded by P.Phelan (passed unanimously)

The Union has approved new May-Day Training and the new training will be forthcoming.

A Motion to adjourn was made by G. O’Brien and seconded by W. Eisenhandler.
