President's Report: Pension Contract up for renewal for one year extension, or arbitration. Will be holding ratification meetings to discuss options/opinions followed by a vote.

Relationship with Chief Edo is going well, working well together and keeping communications open. Working on possible resolution to car grievance. Working on way to make Fire Marshal's Office more appealing, if no one takes the job after next test we may lose the positions. Matt LaVecchia will be tramping the position when he returns. Trying to open options to keep people up there.

Uniform voucher system is on hold due to lack of money needed for Class A uniforms not issued to new members over the past few years.

Sandy Ground Project still in works, hoping for end of October to break ground and complete in three days. Raised around $17,000 so far. Fundraisers still on-going. Requires about $40,000 to build a playground.

Issues regarding OT hiring, administration is aware there is a problem and working on addressing it to ensure all hiring is consistent. Scheduling monthly or quarterly BC meetings.

Comp Time issues with Garcia time. At the end of the Garcia period, members should call the office within 24 hours to find out how many hours they are due for compensation and decide if they want comp time or pay for Garcia Time only. If the office is not notified, the default will be pay.

New Business

UPFFA- Conference next week. Haven't been to most in effort to save money. Resolutions out in information package- one to increase per capita ~43c, plus $4.34 assessment per member for new committee after $5/guy last year for other committee. UPFFA is lobbying/legal representation- benefits are statewide to all firefighters- members or not. Currently surpassed IAFF in dues per year. Weighing possibility of opting out. Other levels of memberships. Ceding from UPFFA would require hiring an attorney on retainer. Part of consideration for raising dues to maintain membership or release it and hire our own lawyer(s).

Ratification meetings for pension contract in the next week or two. And try to bring Louis DiMici and/or Pete Corozza for information.

Will ask UPFFA for comparative analysis of recent arbitration awards.

West Haven 125th Anniversary at Beach September 27th. (?)

CT Fire Association write-up for next month with benefit package.

Motion to adjourn: Stacoffe

2nd: Luciano

Unanimous

Respectfully Submitted,

Michael Geanacopoulos, Secretary
