President's Report: Thank you to all who attended the pension ratification meetings.  A lot of good information, questions and ideas. Tried to get the city to ensure negotiations for next year but would not give a definitive answer. Pension extension passed 57-10.

Grievance for day staff pension calculations was dropped due to miscalculations of pensions for retired members. Lawyer agreed it was best option as there was no chance of winning.

Chief Edo agreed to suspend the inspector's exam until all information and changes are established. Issues being worked on between Chief and City Attorney.

There will be a bump in bid for the upcoming bidding process. Engine 5 will be the quint (Engine 9) and Engine 6 will be the ALS unit. Largely due to questioning by city officials about why there are two engines in the same house. Working on obtaining more funds to replace engine 9 with a new quint for the next apparatus purchase. Also due to overtime funds being used up to staff medic positions on E5. Plan to change all medic bonuses to be equal and utilize officers as medics for ALS unit.

Also working on running assignments for ALS engines. Should be addressed before bids.

Garcia comp time issues with Mrs. Bierswirth addressed and resolved.

Overtime issues should be reported to Heenan or Ricci. They will be committee for OT. Looking to revamp hiring process.

Discussion regarding BCs on special teams will be allowed per attendance, not rank.

CT FFA Benefits. Information available in Fire Marshal's Office. Additional benefit for work related injuries and disability benefits for employee and family. Soliciting committee for administration. Whitbread volunteered.

Thank you from Orange Avenue for event.

Unfinished Business

Attorney fees vs UPFFA. UPFFA allows 30 hours of representation. Have never had to use it yet. Attorney fees/retainer would exceed UPFFA dues.

Retiree Jack Edmonds had medical issue and ended up with a pacemaker.

Brett Corris attended EAP convention, working on setting up internal program and informational meetings for members. Tons of resources available. Includes retirees, spouses, children, family, etc. No cost to anyone. Will not be used for discipline. Feel free to contact Brett for any assistance/contacts. All of us should be looking out for each other and getting anyone help as soon as possible. Brett is working on getting labor assistance professional certification, all union based.

Treasurer's Report

(Attached) Read, Accepted. Luciano, Connelly, Unanimous.

New Business

Met with Mayoral Candidate Peter Spalthoff. Former Trumbull PD. If he's legit, he sounds like a good candidate for union issues. Not opposed to raising taxes if he needs to, so long as the need is justified- positive for boat, special teams, etc. Been involved with Milford politics for 17 years under Lisman and Richitelli. Blake looking to cut manpower and outsource departments. Eboard will extend offer to Blake for sit-down and discuss plans.

E board will call special meeting to vote if decision is made to endorse a candidate.

Bill Lavin is looking for money to order playground. Motion to submit money for playground in order to order parts and get date for assembly by Wetmore, 2nd by LaGuardia. Discussion about getting a date for when assembly will start. Takes 4 weeks to order playground. Concern about submitting money and not getting a date, then losing the site for building. Question about time frame between other departments submitting money and date materials ordered/construction began. Motion amended to submit funds less expenses and $100 to keep account open for future donations. Passed Unanimously.

Stacoffe suggested soft-opening fundraiser at Tilted Kilt for Sandy Ground. Will do legwork and get back with details.

Jeff Luciano working on All-Charities Golf Tournament in May for 18 holes. Email will go out for interest in playing or volunteering. Will be open to anyone. Anyone can volunteer. Updates will come out as available.
