E-Board meeting with chiefs regarding alternative work schedule. Brought up concerns regarding leave, training, work schedule, etc to see what each side is thinking and gauge interest among members. Attempting to settle departmental issues with Chief Edo and leave only wages and benefits for City negotiations. Current points of interest regarding alternative work schedule should be considered and weighed. Meetings will move forward in the future to gauge interest and acceptance before efforts are exhausted to establish an agreement. Please think about everything with open minds and weigh benefits/options. Nothing is established or certain- only ideas now. Main points that were discussed so far: limited swap to not alter schedules- additional at discretion of the Chief, sick time not to abuse schedule, training hours to be amended to include occasional night training for inherently different operations (driving, Marine 1 operations, Marine 2 deployment, classroom, etc), bereavement will have to be altered to accommodate work schedule and funeral arrangements, Alternative schedule for day staff as well (excluding shop due to safety concerns), leave sectioned to blocks of time (6,12,24 hours), limited continuous work shift to 36 hours straight.
